Driver & Rider Agreement

This Driver & Rider Agreement ("Agreement") governs the contractual relationship between Cashride ("Platform", "We", "www.cashride.ca"), Drivers, and Riders utilizing our peer-to-peer carpooling matching service in Ontario, Canada.

Section 1: Non-Commercial Platform Framing & Purpose

Cashride operates exclusively as a peer-to-peer carpooling matchmaker. Cashride is NOT a commercial taxi operator, ride-hailing company, limousine service, or transportation common carrier. Drivers use the Platform solely to share travel expenses (fuel and vehicle wear) on personal trips they were already taking independently.

Section 2: Platform Connection Fee

To confirm a ride connection on the app, Riders agree to pay a flat non-refundable platform connection fee per matched seat via credit card (Visa, Mastercard). This fee covers digital matching infrastructure, software maintenance, verification services, and customer support.

Section 3: Expense Contribution Settlement

The remaining ride expense contribution (fuel and vehicle wear-and-tear) is calculated based on non-commercial cost recovery guidelines. This contribution is paid directly from Rider to Driver off-platform via Cash or Interac e-Transfer upon ride commencement or arrival.

Section 4: Driver Eligibility & Licencing Verification

To offer rides on Cashride, Drivers must satisfy all of the following requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must hold a valid, unrestricted Ontario Class G or G2 Driver's Licence (graduated G1 permits are strictly prohibited).
• Must operate a roadworthy, validly registered personal vehicle insured under an active Ontario motor vehicle liability policy.

Section 5: Maximum Daily Trip Limit

In strict compliance with non-commercial carpooling regulations, Drivers are restricted to a maximum of 2 trips per calendar day (representing an outbound commute and return journey). Continuous commercial route operations are strictly banned.

Section 6: Rider Requirements & Pick-Up Rules

Riders must be at least 18 years of age to book trips independently. Riders must arrive at the designated pickup location on time. Drivers are required to wait a maximum of 5 minutes past the scheduled departure time. After 5 minutes, the Driver may depart and mark the booking as a no-show.

Section 7: Women's Safety Filter Terms

Female Drivers and Riders may elect to activate the Women's Safety Filter. When enabled, the app restricts matching exclusively to verified female community members. Users misrepresenting gender identities will be permanently banned.

Section 8: Insurance & Statutory Accident Benefits

Passengers in personal vehicles in Ontario are covered under Ontario Statutory Accident Benefits provided through the vehicle owner's personal automobile insurance policy. Because drivers do not operate for commercial profit, commercial taxi coverage is not required for legal cost sharing.

Section 9: Passenger Conduct & Prohibited Items

Smoking, vaping, consumption of alcohol or illicit substances, verbal abuse, harassment, and transportation of commercial cargo/courier packages are strictly prohibited on all Cashride trips.

Section 10: Cancellation & Dispute Policy

Trip cancellations or fee disputes must be submitted to Cashride support within 4 calendar days of the scheduled trip date. If a Driver cancels a matched route, the platform connection fee will be credited back to the Rider.

Section 11: Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

Cashride acts solely as a technology platform connecting independent users. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cashride is not liable for vehicle accidents, delays, personal injury, or property damage occurring during shared trips.

Section 12: Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
